My name is Terri Gray and I was born
and raised in California. At the age of 18, I graduated from high school,
enlisted in the Army and moved to Ft. McClellan, Alabama
for basic training
to pursue a career in physical therapy.
I have four brothers,
Stuart, Brian, Sean and Kevin, and was raised by my wonderful
parents, Bob and Sue Julian. All five of us
were adventurous, and moved out into the big world after
graduation. Brian joined the Navy, Kevin, the Marines,
and Sean went to Embry Riddle University
to become a pilot, and Stuart attended college to become
a social worker.
After basic training, I attended my advanced
individual training at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Shortly
after graduation, I met David Gray, the man I would some
day marry. It
turned out that
we were both
at the same company and battalion. During the time I was
stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, I committed my life to
Jesus Christ, and fell in love
with my Lord. It wasn’t too long afterward that David and I married,
in July 1981.
Since that time, David and I have had two
wonderful children, Jennifer and Christopher. Jennifer
was born with a birth
defect, spina bifida, which changed our lives drastically.
It taught me to be a patient
loving mom and how to appreciate the little things in life.
Watching Christopher grow up was even more faith-moving,
as he did reach all the normal life-changing
milestones that Jennifer could not. So I appreciated them
all the more. And when Jennifer did reach a goal, it was
cause for great celebration!
So who I am is wrapped up in
who God designed me to be. A woman of faith and great
confidence in the Lord, who
has proven Himself faithful over all the years. In May
2003, I was diagnosed with breast
cancer. I just figured God would see us through this, the
same way He saw us through Jennifer’s ongoing health crisis.
